The new Golf R32 is set to be the first in a line of high performance VW models that will use the 'R' badge.

A spokesman for VW announced,
"We will roll out other R models as well as the R32 and they will be the pinnacle of performance for each model range, much in the same way as the S-line has done for Audi."



The VW group has already used 'R' badge on the high performance Seat Ibiza Cupra R and the new Seat Leon Cupra R.

We are however, unlikely to see the end of the GTI badge as VW is proud of it's 25 year history, demonstrated by the current excellent TV advert.
